When we choose to be painters, we do not choose a path strewn with roses as everyone imagines, because painters face difficulties and challenges in order to prove themselves and their art in society, especially in our societies that do not give the art of painting the required attention.
My online store has everything you need as artists
For us, the world of art is a world filled with joy and sorrow, happiness and pain, bliss and misery, colors and utter darkness. So let us share, even if just a little, what we are going through, perhaps we will find a listening ear.
harsh criticism
One of the biggest challenges facing artists is harsh criticism. With the increasing number of publishing platforms and social media sites, every artist is exposed to receiving direct comments on their drawings. I don't mean that we are above criticism, but the problem is that it comes from people who may be hateful towards you, who only care about destroying you.
Many people are not good at constructive criticism that pushes forward, but some are good at belittling talent and disregarding the feelings of painters, and the biggest problem is if it comes from a painter like you who is jealous of your success or excellence.
unfair comparisons
There is a large audience obsessed with Japanese art, and they see it as the best in the world, and there is no doubt about that. But where does the trouble lie? When someone comes along and compares your style to the style of Japanese anime in a very discouraging way, which immediately discourages artists.
And it may not end here, as someone may come along and question your abilities, saying that you will never improve or reach the Japanese drawing style no matter how much you try to imitate it, even though every artist has their own style, and no artist likes to imitate others.
Time constraints
Who among us is not preoccupied with the affairs of life? Artists usually spend their work or rest time drawing, but the challenges lie in time. Between school and home duties, and finishing drawings, artists hardly find time to even take a nap.
Especially for those who rely on drawing as a source of income, you find them working tirelessly most of the time, until they send the painting to the client, and they may even be asked to make changes later, which increases the psychological suffering of every artist.
The material aspect
Perhaps the biggest challenge for anime and manga artists is undoubtedly the financial aspect, as many depend on drawing to earn a living. It is true that drawing is usually done from home, which gives absolute freedom in choosing the time for drawing and delivery.
But it is no secret that dealing with customers, their requests, and the changes they ask for after receiving the drawing is extremely difficult, especially since they pay a small amount for a drawing that takes a lot of time, and artists have no choice but to meet customer requests in order to continue making money.
Listen to my story, my journey, and how I developed my talent.
The search for fame
Besides, anime artists want to build a well-known name in the talent-filled arena, as algorithms do not do justice to everyone, especially young artists, so every artist strives to publish almost daily to reach a larger audience.
Not only that, but even with an audience, the artist may not find the appreciation he hopes for from them, especially when he publishes a drawing he worked on for hours, or a video clip that took him weeks to complete, so he becomes very frustrated and feels as if society does not appreciate his talent.
In the end, no one can deny the beauty of the drawing profession, despite the challenges and difficulties that accompany it, as this is the case in any profession around the world. But the truth that is not often said is that drawing is not as easy as some people think, despite its magical world full of colors, there is a dark side.
And yet, drawing will continue, because art is not just a passing profession, but a passion and a personal space for us artists, where we find ourselves, and through which we can express everything that goes on in our minds. I hope you enjoyed today's article, and I look forward to seeing you again soon, God willing.
