Recently, the use of AI in anime has increased among us animators—myself included—whether to improve the quality of our artwork or to save time and effort in producing scenes. Personally, I've started using AI to design backgrounds for my anime and webtoon projects instead of drawing them by hand, as I'm not skilled at drawing backgrounds accurately and don't have the time. Today, I'll share the steps I personally follow so you can achieve amazing results in your projects.
First step: Prepare the initial drawing
The first thing we do is draw a very simple background without complex details, representing the general idea of the scene we want. This drawing doesn't need to be precise or detailed, as I mentioned; it's enough that its lines are clear, as shown in the example. Image number 1.
Next, we move on to refining the drawing by adding subtle details that help the AI understand the final look of the background we want in our work. This stage helps us achieve a result closer to our vision, as in Image number 2.
The number one website for generating wallpapers
We open the first website for generating anime wallpapers using artificial intelligence. After creating an account, we follow these steps:
- Upload the drawing In the box shown in the picture (number 1).
- Write a detailed description For the picture (number 2).
- Choosing a drawing style One of the available patterns (number 3).
- Pressing the button Generate (Number 4).

The website will generate three different images based on your original drawing. You can choose the one that best matches your vision and download it directly to your device.
If you want to improve the results further, you can modify the drawing slightly and re-upload it to get results closer to what you imagine, or simply reproduce a new image.
Then you re-upload them to the same site, and artificial intelligence will provide you with stunning anime backgrounds, suitable for your work. Here are some examples.

An example of using artificial intelligence in one of my projects
In one of my previous projects, I used AI for anime to design the backgrounds for my film "The Prince." I didn't have enough time to draw the backgrounds manually, so I relied on these websites, which provided me with professional results incredibly quickly. The result was very satisfying and perfectly complemented the rest of my film's elements.

This website does not require image uploads; it operates solely based on text descriptions. The steps are as follows:

Third position: Combining drawing and description

The third site offers a mix of options. You can either upload your own photo or write a detailed description. How to use it:

What I liked most about it is that it mimics the styles of well-known anime studios and generates images rich in detail.
Transform your drawings into an anime style
Within the same website, you can go to the section for converting drawings to anime. Just click on the relevant section in the left-hand menu, upload your drawing (I've highlighted it with the yellow arrow).

Then determine the degree of similarity between the AI drawing of the anime and your original drawing, according to what suits you.
