Welcome back to a new lesson and explanation, where today we will learn an easy and fun way to add anime hair shine to your characters in webtoons and manga alike, in a practical and clear way, because adding hair shine to webtoon characters greatly raises the level of drawing.
In this lesson, you won't need to waste time drawing hair shine by hand with complicated lines, because we'll use ready-made brushes specifically designed to add anime hair shine with a single click, allowing you to add shine to every character's hair in seconds. First step
Before anything else, make sure to add these brushes to the program we're using, Clip Studio Paint. They're completely free and include anime hair glitter brushes. Click the download button on the page. I've written instructions on how to add them to the program below.

Installation instructions within Clip Studio
- Open a window Clip Studio From the list Window > Clip Studio.
- From tab AssetsFind the desired brush and then press Download.
- After downloading, drag the brush to the brush panel (such as Brush or Decoration) in the sidebar.
- Now you can use them directly with drawing tools.
Step two
- From the sidebar, click on the tool “Anime hair shine brush”.
- Then from the bottom section (Tool Property), choose the appropriate brush type, such as.
Step three
Add a new layer, in order to create an anime hair shine layer, like this:
- Create a new layer via: Layer > New Layer > Raster Layer.
Step four
- From the sidebar, select the “Decoration” or “Brush” tool, then from the brush list, select the brush for hair shine that you have installed, which is named “Hair Shine” or “Highlight Curve”.”
- This brush allows you to draw the shine with a curved line: you start by drawing lightly from the end of the hair and then pull the line towards the curve to take the shape of the prominent shine.
Make sure to use a white or light color that matches the hair color, so that the shine is clearly visible on the hair layer.
Adjusting the size and shape of the brush
If you want to change the size of the anime hair shine and lighting, all you have to do is reduce it from the list of sizes designated for that, which I have indicated for you in the picture.
A look at where we've arrived
These are several different types of anime hair glitter, and each one has a different look from the other, so you are free to choose the type you prefer for your drawings.
Notice here the clear difference between the two types of hair shine; each girl has a different hair highlight to beautifully express her personality. The first style features soft color gradients within the hair shine.
The second character appears without gradients, with a simple and clear shine that gives it a cartoonish character that suits some webtoon and anime styles, and makes the hair coloring process faster and easier.
The third character has very soft and light hair lighting, for those who like simplicity in drawing.
