Today, I'm back with a new and very important lesson: how to draw the female body professionally, step by step. We'll start with a simplified method that will help both beginners and professionals master drawing the female body correctly.

You can follow the steps of this body drawing lesson, whether on paper (i.e., paper drawing), on the computer (using a tablet pen), or on a tablet. Don't forget that these steps that we will apply today can be applied to drawing the bodies of girls or teenagers, because the body structure is similar.
First step: We determine the length and proportions
Begin by drawing a rectangle on the canvas. This rectangle will help you determine the character's height and maintain proportions while drawing. Next, draw a horizontal line down the middle of the rectangle to divide it in half, making it easier to distribute the upper and lower body parts in a balanced way.
Step two: We draw the upper section
Draw a simple circle at the top of the rectangle to represent the head, adding a horizontal line in the middle to indicate the position of the eyes. You can learn how to draw a face in detail in a separate lesson on the website.
Next, draw the torso and shoulders using simple guide lines, and add details such as the neck, shoulders and waist, because that is what determines the correct shape when drawing a female body.
Step three: We draw the face and basic body lines
We move on to drawing the lower part of the body, using the horizontal dividing line that we defined earlier.
We also add the limbs, such as the arms and legs. The arms must come out of the shoulders, and we add a circle at each joint. The same applies to the legs, as we add joint circles to them.
Important notes:
- Make the waist slightly thinner, something that suits the nature of the female body.
- Make sure you draw the shoulders smoothly and rounded, and avoid making them too wide.
- Do not draw any part of the upper section, in the outlined line of the lower section.
Step four: We add the basic details of the body
After completing the guidelines or what is known as the ”sketch”, at this stage fill in the entire body, determine the locations of the hair on the head, and also draw the arms smoothly, and draw the legs, and you will find it easy, because the previous sketch will help you.
Notice how helpful the guidelines were when drawing the female body, as well as the joint circles that easily identified the locations of the shoulders, arms, and legs.
At this stage, before moving on to adding any new details, you can erase and redraw any part you want, because changes are easy at this stage.
Step five: Draw the hair and clothes
Start by adding a hairstyle that suits your character in a distinctive anime style, then add clothing details such as an outfit or any design you choose, taking into account the addition of folds in the clothing and the direction of the fabrics to be closer to realism.
Step six: Inking the drawing
After completing the details of the female figure in the anime style, we begin inking the entire drawing using a black pen or digital drawing software. Ensure the lines are clean and clear, then delete the sketch layer; the drawing is now ready for coloring.
- We add New Layer.
- Then we determine Pen Tool.
- We choose the color Black from the Color Wheel.
- Then we reduce Sketch Layer Opacity.
- We begin by drawing over it with clean and clear lines.
